Heritage listed, The Bakery at Warrandyte has been around as long as Warrandyte itself. (That’s more than 100 years.) The Robb family have been running the bakery since 1989 and provide their customers with a great range of wood–fired, gourmet breads, pies, pasties, sausage rolls and homemade cakes that can be enjoyed right outside their door in the park under the protection of a sun sail dining area. There is a Goldfields theme adventure playground and swings for the kids to play on after they have eaten while Mum and Dad can enjoy a freshly made latte or cappuccino from the bakery’s coffee machine. Some of the specialties coming from the wood–fired oven include yeast–free and wheat–free bread, flourless orange cakes, chunky buffalo pies, pumpkin and sundried tomato cobbs, tasty vegetarian pies and biodynamic wholemeal bread (weekends and orders only). People come from all around to visit this bakery and sit by the Yarra River feeding leftovers to the ducks and to enjoy live music while dining on the weekends. Their motto is a poem that symbolises the love and dedication that has gone in to making this business one of Warrandyte’s finest:
We give our best to make each loaf a wondrous work of art
Into our pies and all our cakes we pour our little hearts.
We've been getting better, ever better since the day we came to be
So onwards, ever upwards, soars our quest for quality!
So if hunger strikes on your next trip through this pretty little hollow you can’t go past the Warrandyte Bakery. The Bakery welcomes Bartercard and has EFTPOS facilities. It’s open seven days a week including public holidays 7am-5.30pm.
