Sorpranos wine bar is the reincarnation of Yarra Valley Gold and is bought to you with passion and flare by the new owners Dominic and Vanessa Massarotti. Only 15 minutes from Warrandyte opposite the Heritage Golf Club Soprano’s has been given a complete upgrade inside and out since Dominic and Vanessa took over to create a bright little stop on your way through the Yarra Valley. Sorpranos features a 15 acre vineyard of pinot, chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon maintained by Dominic who works the in the Yarra Valley as a vineyard consultant and oversees the making of their wine which is sold through the cellar door to take home or enjoy while you dine in the restaurant. With Swiss chef Markus Stoffel heading the kitchen the menu has an international influence featuring dishes like jumbo angelotti ricotta and smoked salmon on a dill saffron sauce with Yarra Valley salmon roe to start or for main course you can try King Island porterhouse steak with wild mushrooms and garlic, rosemary potatoes or chicken breast filled with Gippsland brie wrapped in prosciutto, served on a bed of potato mash and white wine sauce. To finish off, try the rhubarb crumble in filo pastry with vanilla custard. To accompany this try one of Sorpranos own wines or a drop from Carhilton of the Yarra Valley produced by Peter Wilson of Yarra Yering. If you’re having the steak, try a Camelot Shiraz from Heathcote. You have the choice of dining inside in the modern restaurant or alfresco outside under the garden terrace–surrounded vines and a manicured garden setting.

If you’re wondering, "Why the name Sorpranos?”, it’s because the wine bar has a genuine musical connection. Once a month on a Saturday evening members of the Australian Opera Singers descend on Sorpranos to give an intimate performance of arias which they perform as the move through the crowd. They are well supported by Dominic, who sings tenor.
Together with his wife Vanessa, Dominic is living proof that all things good can come from wine, women and song! Sorpranos has a changing line–up of entertainment from jazz through to pop and rock, so keep in touch with their event calendar. Sorpranos can not only provide you with a night to remember but also can cater for your wedding reception or special function so called Vanessa to ask for more details.
